Every so often, I’ll write, pose, shoot, and assemble a comic, and upon completion, I’ll decide I really don’t like how it turned out all. I’ll just absolutely hate it. Sometimes it’s the writing, sometimes it’s the posing, sometimes it’s the concept, and it’s usually a combination of the three. This is not the best feeling in the world. It’s tough thing to spend long hours working on something before you realize it stinks, it’s substandard, and it should never see the light of day.
And so, I’m left with the question, “What should I do with this crappy comic that I nonetheless spent a great deal of time and effort on?” And the answer is, “Post it and go to bed.”
Ha ha! No, seriously, if I really don’t like a comic, I’ll junk it and put another up in its place. It’s a pain to start over from scratch, particularly in the middle of the night, but it’s generally led to some better comics being posted.
Still, I do have probably a dozen “deleted scenes”, so I might as well put them somewhere, because it’s either do that or work on this boring spreadsheet at my stupid job.
So, here’s a deleted comic from the Route Banal chapter. It’s where Sandy decides to ditch Frohman, and I wasn’t happy with how it turned out. Most of I shot right in front of a blank wall for some stupid reason. I couldn’t quite get Frohman’s expression (I was going for the pathetic, puppy-dog eyes). And, eh. It’s just not very good.
I replaced it with this one, the final #058, which I was much happier with, because it had some nice close-ups of Sandy, and anytime I can give Frohman a ridiculous injury or three, I can go to bed happy.
I’ll try to add some more deleted comics from time to time for your staring-blankly-at pleasure.
