I’ll always love Serling and his nice words and forgive him the too many episodes about ships (but I guess you write what you know). Elba had a run on The Big C with his original accent and that broke my hearing-Stringer-Bell-talk-like-a-Brit cherry. I was also surprised to learn that he played the black gatekeeper dude from the Thor movie.

In the director’s mind, fear is defined as the excessive use of bass effects and doors closing by themselves.

Yeah, they do a really good job of making it seem like everyone knows how to do their, well, jobs. Rather than just a bunch of thugs waving guns around, there’s a shared unspoken knowledge of how pointing and using guns is supposed to work. Lots of great detail in there.

Between the tactical withdrawal when they first try to kidnap the woman and the impact-before-gunshot in the sniping scene in Mexico and just small things like how the guns sound, it just feels like they did their homework.

I don’t know if it IS realistic, because I’m not a kidnapping ne’er-do-well or borderline psychotic bodyguard, but it FEELS realistic.

It was surprisingly good, in a ‘it was bad, but not BAD bad’ way. It’s kind of sad that most people nowadays only know the “all out of bubblegum” line from Duke Nukem.
