Just use headphones/earphones, you can even put them in the kindle (they dont have to be on). Its a good way of deterring all but the most persistent of chatters.

Also, love the kindle too, its a truly wonderful thing!

In reply to Pulviriza. I think I produce some kind of pheromone that makes strangers want to talk to me constantly. If Chris and I are out together and he leaves me alone for a few minutes, he'll come back to find me uncomfortably chatting away with someone. Once at the laundromat when he went to get some coffee, he came back to me answering all sorts of laundromat questions that this strange woman wanted to know. He just said, "So you work here now?". I don't know how to stop it.

I don’t know if the ‘light-rail’ is different to just a normal commuter train, but I have never had anyone say a word about my Kindle. I see others around as well, it’s simply the best device I own.
